I would have made the flag read "The Daily McPaper."
Maybe with a little Ronald McDonald cutout?
Just sayin', would have been a nice touch.

"I'm lovin' it."

(p.s.: that's one of the most annoying slogans I've ever seen/heard)

By the way:

Since the Spurs and Suns are locking horns (or bashing noses), I noted that the Arizona Republic (whose ad started this thread) now has not one, but two front-page ad spots -- the down-page display ad and another ad for the top of their briefs rail.

Good eye, Dean. Just to clarify, that briefs rail ad has only run in our Monday paper since it went through a redesign of sorts back in March. The rest of the week, we only have the bottom ad on A1.

And is this "front page ads are bad" thread still alive and kicking? Seriously? You can't tell me there's not more current (or productive) stuff to talk about. I'll give you a topic: the cotton gin was neither cotton nor gin. Discuss. Very Happy

I'm feeling a little verklempt.

How have I missed this thread for so long? I spent the last five minutes laughing and frightening the cat.

If Paginat-O-Tron gets angry will it be something like the monster robot attacking in SimCity?

I thought I'd revive this thread briefly to add something I've noticed the last couple of days. OK, it's not McDonald's.

I think it would be good to have a Best Front Ad Design and Worst Front Ad Design review. The promise is that the ads will be tasteful and well-designed, appropriate for a front page, but it's not always happening.

But it's LEXUS! A subsidiary of TOYOTA! A Japanese company! That newspaper is patently unAmerican. I'm going to go buy the LA Times. At least they're owned by Sam Zell.
