Here's a look at our new tech section. This section launched today, June 18, and starts a week of revamped business sections.
This is a partial redesign for the Merc. We're using the business section as a lab for the rest of the paper. We're trying some new things, ditching what doesn't work and keeping/improving the rest. Also using it as Phase 1 to make the section vastly more interactive.
These are the first three pages of the section.
The cover represents our bolder, more local, more useful approach to the news. Here our lead tech columnist Dean Takahashi breaks down why you should or shouldn't buy an iPhone (Apple is right down the road from us). We breakout his top plusses and minuses as buttons on the phone. This page is by designer Chris Strach.
The inside spread represents what we'd like to do with some of our inside pages: More local, more energetic, much more useful.
** Haven't been able to crack the code of getting images onto these posts ... any help appreciated.
We also worked with advertising to come up with a new ad strategy for the sections.

JB, Matt, this section is visually incredible. Clean, sleak and user-friendly. You guys continue to amaze. _________________ Something witty should go here
