Colleagues: After an exhaustive search and talking with so many highly qualified candidates from coast to coast, I am pleased to announce that Tim Rasmussen, director of photography at the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, will be the new AME/Photography at The Denver Post. Not only did "Ras" impress us with his passion, smarts and portfolio of work, he's just a great guy to hang with. And his energy? Off the charts. Please join me in congratulating Tim.

The only problem is whom to congratulate first?

Way to go - sounds like a dream team and a dream job! (and that shiny new office to boot)

Best wishes.

Nice.
Smart hire.
Tim makes things happen.
But where did Ms. Reeves go? Tim has some large footprints to follow.

She's downstairs on the fifth floor at the Rocky, Clif.

And Tim, congratulations and welcome to Denver.

Congratulations to my pals in Denver.

Damon: You have been doing a truly stunning recruiting job since arriving at the paper. It's an extraordinary effort and I applaud each and every one of these additions.

Tim: You're the man. You made my day (week? year?) when you bailed me out at my workshop here in San Jose. Pretty sure you know what I mean;) Seriously, huge work you did in Florida. I hope you bring the Post in that direction. Janet Reeves and her crew at the Rocky are formidable competition (Pulitzers and all), but that is what makes it fun, right?

And to the readers in Denver: Kudos on what will undoubtedly become an a amazingly competitive photo report!

First, I have to compose myself. Crying or Very sad

Tim has saved me from imminent doom more times than I can count, first rescuing me from--no kidding--a waitressing job at the College Ave. Chili's in Baton Rouge, La. (Not to mention a really, really bad relationship). Then he introduced me to the wonderful man I call my boyfriend (another Tim success, too!). He refused to leave me for dead in Fredericksburg, Va., recruiting me and my boyfriend at the Sun-Sentinel. He's taught me so much in the past five years, even beyond picture editing. The Post is getting a great a leader and, frankly, a visonary.

But forget work, Tim's one of the greatest friends in the world to have. He's taught our kids to surf (kinda) and kept them in line when I couldn't. And he and his wife Koren throw a heck of a Thanksgiving dinner. A displaced Yankee in Florida couldn't ask for better friends to visit when ski season starts. Mr. Green

Congrats, Tim. I might even karaoke at the Starlite for you. (But don't hold your breath, pussycat.)

Denver's found a great person for this job. Knowing Tim from his time in Virginia (when I was at the Daily Press and he was at the Free-Lance Star) and seeing the work he's been doing in Lauderdale has been truly inspiring to me.

I know he'll do great things in Denver. Watch out Rocky, you have some serious competition coming your way!
