Camp VJ: Video journalism training for reporters
Visual Editors is training journalists around the world on multimedia blogging, social networking for reporters, advanced Web video and audio techniques and the mindset for mobile journalism.
VizEds seminars offer low-cost, hands on training to develop video literacy, multimedia reporting and digital journalism skills.
We call it Camp Video Journalism
Video Workshop: Chicago
The camp is a week-long video workshop. Classes include a two-day workshop at the beginner level, a one-day workshop on editing in Final Cut and a two-day workshop for advanced web video story forms and editing workflows. Students need only register and pay for the training classes that best suit them.

Two day workshop for reporters carrying video cameras.

Description: Fundamentals of camera usage, shooting sequences, the importance of audio, simple story forms and basic edits. Participants will film and edit and post videos on both days in group and individual critiques
Who? Reporters carrying cameras, multimedia editors, and online journalists involved with producing daily Web video story components.
Requirements: Students will bring their own portable kit to the classroom (Camera, laptop and editing software)
Schedule: Two days with group critiques and individual coaching in the afternoon session.

Final Cut Pro Editing Techniques

Description: Time-saving techniques, editing sequences, using advanced cuts and transitions, story development, Editing pieces with multiple narratives, lower thirds, voice overs, bed tracks, split edits, encoding and solving problems in sequences and with audio.

Web video journalism - Advanced story forms
Two day workshop
Cost: $350
Description: Advanced level workshop on planning and developing stories that engage audiences with high degree of web video integration and community interaction. How to plan and produce documentaries, manage triple-narrative pieces, how to shoot pieces to camera, develop solo VJ skills, and techniques that allow journalists to field produce videos in the shortest possible time in order to get them online.
Who? Multi-media editors, story producers, video editors, solo JVs.
Requirements: Students will bring their own portable kit to the classroom (Camera, laptop and editing software)
Schedule: Two Days. Students will be expected to film and edit pieces outside of the formal instruction periods.
