Dutch infographics summit
Frederik Ruys has organised an infographics summit in Holland on Friday, March 21, 2008.
The summit will be held in the Hotel Theater Figi Zeist - near Utrecht, and if you sign up before February 21st all applicants will pay 95 EUR entrance fee, which includes food and beverages. SND members in the Netherlands can get a 15% discount.
Most of the sessions are in Dutch but a couple are in English.
Sessions in theatre:
10.00: Welcome by Frederik Ruys (vizualism.com, FD.nl), opening of the exhibition in the Figi Atrium.
10.15: John Grimwade (infographic legend, Condé Nast, New York): “Introduction on infographics”.
10.45: Ramses Reijerman (AD), Remy Jon Ming (de Volkskrant): “The battle”: designers of the two largest dutch dailies compare their news graphics: one popular newspaper and one quality newspaper.
Break.
11.45: Atja Apituley (designer at Mijksenaar): “Visual Information”.
12.15: Trik (Raymond Hendriks, www.illustrik.nl; winner of the 2007 Dutch Inktspot-award): “Out of the Box”
Lunch break.
Sessions in boardroom:
13.45: Frederik Ruys (winner infographic European Design Award 2007): “How do you do that?”.
14.15: Susanne Hoogwater (Legal Visuals, USA): “Information graphics in the American court room”.
14.45: Mieke Roth: Research and design in medical infographics.
Break.
15.45: Rob Kuunders (Adobe): “Converting infographics to Flash”.
16.15: Surprise act: “Motion graphics in the news room”.
16.45: Gert Gerrits (Dutch Desginers association BNO): about the upcoming infographic competition this fall.
The day ends with drinks provided by BNO.
Also, during the summit a “Breaking Newsroom” will be available (TV’s, free internet connection, etc.) for all the graphic journalists.
