UK regional newspapers - Oxford Mail pages

Friday, July 25th, 2008

SND Region 15 member, William Crossley, kindly sent me some pages from the Oxford Mail in England. With a circulation of 25,100 this, from a design point of view, is typical of regional newspapers (my paper being no different) in the UK.

William, the deputy chief sub at the Mail, has done pretty well here though - he’s even written the story!

Nice use of a simple, effective graphic.

I’m glad a headline wasn’t slapped on top of this picture.

Mirror and Telegraph redesign websites

mirror home page

The UK’s Daily Mirror and Daily Telegraph have redesigned their websites over the last week.

The Telegraph has gone the more traditional route here, while the Mirror, with the help of Cases Associates again, have gone for a different approach here.

The Mirror has a new logotype on its website but the old masthead still remains on the print product. I still don’t understand this approach. The print masthead needs changing and their new look was the perfect time to do it.

Read more on the Telegraph changes here and on the Mirror here.
