Holmes and Grimwade at Dutch Infographics conference

Nigel Holmes
The Dutch Infographics conference held in Zeist in the centre of Holland last month was a great success.
Organiser Frederik Ruys said: “The conference was inspiring and great fun. Due to the great number of attendants (300+) we moved to the larger auditorium. And that worked out great (larger podium, bigger screen, better sound, etc.).
“I loved the presentation from Nigel Holmes. He showed that new technology may not be an excuse to design complicated and incomprehensible infographics. We, infographic designers, are still challenged to keep things as simple as possible.
“Of course John Grimwade was great, with his vision on data visualisation.
“A lot of people also loved Henk van Ess, the web intelligence specialist who showed how you can search the web for better images.
“The presentation of Gert de Graaff (film director) and Barbara van Os (news graphics RTL television) were also acclaimed. Especially when he commented on the graphic visualisation of the latest air crash in The Netherlands (Turkish Airlines).”
Here’s some pictures from the event Frederik supplied.
