I don’t excatly know how US and European newspaper’s carry obiturary news. But one thing is sure that vernacular dailies in India devote more space for such news.In Kerala (southern part of India),every language newspaper spend more than one page for obiturary news.Apart from that death of big names were given in the front page itself..

Kerala kaumudi covered the death of the poet Ayyappa Panicker as its page onemain story(first one) . Shehnai wizard Bismillah Khan(second one) also got a prominent place in page one .Research study shows that in our part readers third interest is obiturary page after  sports and front page
NB: I LIKE TO KNOW HOW OTHERS COVER OBITURARY NEWS

Indian newspapers don’t follow centrepiece layout.Eight months ago I
came to know about the centrepiece through visual editors. To me it is
very difficult to exhibit centrepiece because of ads and the non
availibity of such stories. Now kerala kaumudi has started to give stories meant
to educate readers on topics such as damage done by cartoon channels to
children, danger behind backseat bike riding and so on.An example is
give above.I think i am the first one to adopt the centrepiece in our
part. Thanks to all at visual editors
